Techniques

This page gives you a brief preview of some of the techniques that are explained in the Tae Shin Do Self Defence School book titled "Common Sense Self Defence".  These techniques display just how simple, but effective, the techniques are.

**  To view a number of the techniques in action, click on the Video link to the left, or at the bottom of the "Pictures" page.  **

Technique 1
This is an example of one of the easier, non-violent techniques you can learn.  It will release the grip of a friend or a potential attacker.  It is an excellent way for young kids to get away from a person who stops next to them in a car, jumps out and tries to drag them into their car.  This technique will release the grip and allow you to escape.  This technique is also demonstrated in video on the "Pictures" page.

Technique 2
This technique below is an example of how to get out of a life threatening situation, under the legal guidelines of reasonable force.

A thug confronts you with

a knife. Adopt the defencive stance and wait for him to

lunge forward.

As he starts to move, float

back, ensuring your body

is out of the line of attack.

Grab his wrist, strike his

elbow and push it towards

the ground.

Force his elbow into the

ground.  Maintain pressure

on his elbow and get someone

to call the Police.
